EPIC Charter School has just been notified that it has earned state accreditation from the state Accrediting Commission for Schools, Western Association of Schools and Colleges (ASC WASC).

Being fully accredited by ASC WASC means EPIC graduates are receiving an education grounded in rigor and quality aligned to the State of California academic standards, as well as ASC WASC standards. The accreditation also means that EPIC students are to be afforded the same consideration as other publicly educated California students in their applications to higher education institutions.

While it is typical for such accreditation to take three years for a new school to earn, EPIC has accomplished the distinction in half that time. Opened in September 2016, EPIC has been in operation nearly 18 months and now has approximately 400 students enrolled in grades kindergarten through 12th grade.

“The ACS WASC accreditation process has been a great experience for our school and we are thrilled already to have received accreditation in EPIC’s second year,” said EPIC Executive Director Paul MacGregor. “The ACS WASC visiting committee met with EPIC students, families, and team members and got to see firsthand the positive impact our school is having. The accreditation is a strong affirmation that we have created a high quality school of choice for students in Southern California.”

EPIC’s accreditation status is for grades transitional kindergarten through 12th grade and through June 30, 2021. Accreditation is conditioned upon EPIC’s continued adherence with the ACS WASC policies, procedures and criteria for accreditation.
