Measuring progress together…
At Epic Charter School, we believe that administering proper assessments helps families, their students and teachers gauge progress. By participating in these, we can implement intervention strategies should deficiencies be seen. Likewise, we may see that some students need more challenging coursework should they test at excelled levels. All of this is only to help each student progress at a healthy pace and achieve learning gains.
About MAP Benchmarks
Each MAP Benchmark is used to track and measure learning gains throughout the year. Required of all Epic Charter School students in Grades TK-12. NWEA Measures of Academic Progress® (MAP®) presents students with engaging, age-appropriate content. As a student responds to questions, the MAP responds to the student, adjusting up or down in difficulty. The result is a rewarding experience for the student, and a wealth of detailed information for teachers, parents and administrators.
Assessment Dates
Your teacher will schedule periodic assessments with you.
Powered By Data
The underlying data driving the assessment ensures remarkable accuracy, based on over 24 million assessments given during the past 30+ years. NWEA’s equal-interval RIT scale increases the stability, providing grade-independent analysis of a child’s learning. For educators, it means at last having timely information that, used well, can change the course of a student’s schoolyear — and life.
Scoring
Once tested, your child will be assigned a RIT score in three areas. Your teacher will help you understand the scores once they are determined. Click here to learn more about RIT scores.
